Ayooooooo Reader,
Okayyyy this weekโs newsletter is a fun one because I did a live website SEO audit with one of my Search Club members on YouTube, and I wanna share the tea with you...
It's SUCH a good example of what implementing SEO *actually* looks like in real life (not just theory & random examples that I pull out of my ass).
๐ Watch the full audit + interview here
The biggest takeaway thooooo?
SEO is not *just* keywords, itโs about CLARITY.
Clarity for website visitors.
Clarity for Google.
Clarity for AI bots.
And one of the fastest ways to IMPROVE clarity (without creating new content), is by making your website easier to navigate.
Because if a user hits a dead end or they don't know what to explore next or they can't find what they're looking for, they're gonna leave.
Which is why user experience (UX) signals are confirmed SEO ranking factors.
Aka, if people are bopping around on your website, checking out a few pages, reading things, spending time, going into a lil' rabbit hole, those are ALL GOOD SIGNS.
A+ for UX.
A+ for SEO
But if a user lands on your site, doesn't know what to do next, and then leaves? Not great.
When people bounce, or spend very little time on your website is can be a signal to search engines & bots "ehhhh, this website might not be helpful for people" -- which can hurt rankings.
This is where internal linking comes in (and why it matters SO much)
Internal links = links that go from one page on your website โ to another page on your website.
Thatโs it. Nothing fancy or special. It's just linking your website pages together.
Internal links can be button links, menu links, footer links, regular ole' hyperlinks.
But when you use them intentionally, you:
- Keep people on your site longer
- Guide them through your content (like a yummy lil' breadcrumb trail)
- Help them find what they actually need
- AND give Google + AI more context about your site
Because when bots crawl your website, theyโre LITERALLY clicking & following links from one page to another, just like a user would.
So when your pages are connected & linked well together, it helps bots understand:
- What solutions you offer + problems you solve
- What topics you talk about
- Which pages are important
- How everything relates to each other
AKA what youโre actually an authority in!
Wanna see all this in action?
Internal links came up quite a bit in the YouTube website audit. Michelle & I looked at things on her website, like:
- The top navigation menu
- The footer (aka your catch-all safety net)
- Linking between related pages + blog posts
- Making sure key pages are easy to find
All of it works together to create a better experience for your people, which makes your site easier for search engines to understand and recommend.
Good for users = good for bots = good for rankings = good for YOU.

๐ Action step(s) for this week:
๐ Step 1: Go watch the YouTube audit:
โThenโฆ
๐ Step 2: Pick ONE thing to implement on your site this week
Here are a few ideas based on what we covered:
- Add an internal link from one page โ to another related page
- Check your footer: are your most important links listed there?
- Make sure your About + Contact pages are easy to find
- Add a link from a blog post โ to a service or offer
- Look at your homepage and ask: โwhere do I want people to go next?โ
You do NOT need to overhaul your entire site.
โBut you DO need to start connecting the dots more clearly.
Because the easier your website is to move throughโฆ
The easier it is for people (and search engines) to trust it.
Clarity + trust = better rankings & more $$$.
