Hiya Reader!
Okay, sooooo today weβre talking about one of the easiest SEO wins out there.
No SEO tools needed.
No keyword research needed.
βYou don't even have to log into your own WEBSITE for this one...
But before we get into it, I got a quick lil' poll for ya π
(It takes 3 seconds to click AND it feeds my curiosity bc I have assumptions about this question and where the answers are gonna land, but wanna see if I'm right LOL - you should be able to see results after you vote too!)
// Quick Poll: Where you at???

Now onto the EASIEST backlinks of all time; your social media links.
Social media links = links that point from your social profiles back to your website.
- Your Instagram bio
- Your YouTube channel profile
- Your Pinterest / LinkedIn / TikTok / Threads profile
Every one of these links allow Google & AI bots to get a clearer picture of your business, and build trust with it.
Why Does This Matter for SEO (and AI SEO)???
Because Google & AI tools are a business. They want to recommend GOOD solutions to their users. They want their users to be happy with recommendations, so they try to recommend options that *seem* trustworthy.
And because of that, they have to have SOME WAY of *judging* trust for a business/brand/website.
This mainly started off as backlinks & domain authority back in the old days of SEO, and yes, these things STILL matter today, but social media ALSO plays a roll in this now.
Search engines & AI tools look at:
- Is this brand mentioned elsewhere on the web?
- Do their social media profiles point back to the site?
- Is the messaging/topic consistent?
- Does this business exist outside of one URL?
So when your social profiles:
- Clearly say what you do
- Clearly say who you help
- Clearly link back to your website
Youβre giving search engines & AI tools clarity.
Clarity = easier SEO rankings.
BONUS POINTS: If youβre posting on social media and publishing on your site (even occasionally), that activity tells Google and AI tools that your brand is STILL alive and relevant.
What Makes Social Links the EASIEST Backlinks?
You control them.
Unlike backlinks from other sites, you donβt have to convince anyone to give you these links.
You just set them up yourself.
And once theyβre done, theyβre done.
(IF ONLY EVERYTHING WAS THIS DAMN EASY lol).
No, you don't have to be on EVERY social media platform.
Because I KNOW that was your next question lol
You donβt need to be everywhere, especially if you don't wanna be.β
DO NOT go trying to resurrect some dusty ass Twitter account from 2016 lmao
Social signals are more about clarity & trust vs. how many you have.
ONE well-optimized, active social media profile that clearly:
- Says what you do
- Says who you help
- Links back to your website
β¦is worth way more than 6 half-dead profiles you haven't posted on since 2019.
Here's the tea on how I use/don't use these social profiles:
π YouTube: I post a new video every 2 weeks.
π Instagram: I post on my feed like 1x a month, maybe. But I post on stories a few times a week.
π LinkedIn: I post 1x a week, maybe, if I remember OR if I schedule our repurposed Threads of mine. I'm literally never creating specific content for this platform. Sometimes I'll go 3 months without posting. It's whatever.
π Threads: Sometimes I post 5x a day, sometimes I post 2x a week. Depends on my mood. It's never strategic, usually only in the moment based on what I'm doing. Sometimes I'll schedule posts out, but not often right now. I use the good ones on here & I'll republish to Instagram stories & LinkedIn.
π Facebook: I have a profile here but I forget it's a thing LOL - maybe I should post there to let people know I'm not dead, if they happen to come across it.
π Pinterest: I took the time to set up and optimize this profile a while ago, and it STILL brings traffic to my website lol. If you wanna explore Pinterest, my friend Nadalie is hosting a free 5-day bootcamp. Link below!
π Twitter/X/Snapchat/TikTok: I won't touch any of these with a 10-foot pole because they just don't feel fun for me. I don't have a profile on any of them and idc to.
Social media is not a huge leads/traffic driver for me; search is (Google & YouTube.)
Which leaves me the freedom to turn up or turn down my activity on social media platforms based on what season of life I'm in, my client schedule, or anything else I got goin' on.
I will say, I've never taken a full month off of socials completely though.
Maybe it's because I work for myself and by myself, so I don't have coworkers?
But I always have SOMETHING to share on social media, at least 1x a week, even if it's not really business related.
Yes = personal shares STILL keep your social media profiles *active* and they add more human-ness to your business (which I recommend!!!!) -- just make sure your PROFILE is set up strategically w/ your website link + profile filled out (if you're using these social profiles for business) annnnd try to have a healthy balance with personal + business so people are clear on wtf you do.
π Action step for this week:
Look at the social media profiles you already use & do a quick cleanup:
β
Make sure your website link is in the bio (and actually works)
β
Update your bio to clearly say what you do // what you're an expert in (bonus points if it's an SEO keyword on your site!) -- for example, my social profiles say "SEO Consultant & Educator" and that's the SAME keywords from my homepage.
Remember that your bio should be SO CLEAR so that a stranger can understand your business in 5 seconds.
Clarity > Clever.
Save the clever for your posts lol.
β
BONUS: Make sure you're linking from your WEBSITE to your social media profiles too! This creates a natural link loop which helps build trust.
Thatβs it.
